Key Largo Florida
Key
Largo, also known as the "Diving Capital of
the World", is the northernmost island of
the Florida Keys. It is about an hour away
from two of South Florida's major airports.
Key Largo connects to the Miami-Dade County
through to routes: the Overseas Highway and
the Card Sound Road.
Aside from being a popular diving site, Key
Largo is a well-known sport-fishing
destination. The Atlantic shallows abound
with bonefish, while tarpon and redfish
thrive in the Florida Bay. Many of the best
fishing guides and charter captains come
from Key Largo.
To the island's west lies the beautiful
Everglades National Park, and to its east is
the only living coral barrier reef in North
America. The breathtaking setting and the
rich wildlife attract thousands of fishing
enthusiasts, eco-tourists, kayakers, bird
watchers, nature lovers, scuba divers and
even movie producers to the area.
Popular attractions in Key Largo include the
Dagny Johnson Key Largo Botanical State
Park,
the Florida Keys National
Marine Sanctuary and the John Pennekamp
Coral Reef State Park.
Many of South Florida's events this year and
the next, such as the South Beach Food and
Wine Festival, the NASCAR
Ford Championship Weekend and the Superbowl
XLIV, are
scheduled to be held in Key
Largo.
